Finch Restorations is Australia’s oldest vehicle restoration business with six decades of excellence. We are seeking a Project Manager to lead assigned vehicle restoration projects from client briefing through to final delivery. You will join our Project Management Office (PMO), which coordinates 40–60 concurrent projects covering classic cars, vintage trucks, and rare motorcycles.

Our New Branch

This role is based at our new Hindmarsh flagship site.  Several months training will initially be required at our Mount Barker branch.

The Role: Project Manager

As Project Manager, you will guide your assigned portfolio of restoration projects, define project scopes, issue timely work-orders, liaise with clients and suppliers, manage timelines, monitor budgets, and report key performance indicators. Your work helps preserve heritage vehicles and deliver world-class craftsmanship.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead assigned projects from initiation through to vehicle delivery and closure.
  • Define and document project scopes in consultation with clients and workshop teams.
  • Plan and issue work-orders up to 12 weeks in advance, ensuring sprint backlogs remain full.
  • Identify and coordinate timely procurement of required parts and components.
  • Monitor project progress and update ERP system records and reports.
  • Communicate regularly with clients and manage expectations with professionalism.
  • Facilitate project meetings, decision points, and resolve impediments.
  • Manage project invoicing and track commercial outcomes.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Experience in project management within manufacturing, engineering, or automotive sectors.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience writing scopes, issuing work-orders, and reporting on project progress.

POSITION PURPOSE

To manage and lead a portfolio of assigned projects from initiation through to vehicle delivery and closure. This role includes defining project requirements, ensuring scope alignment, coordinating internal resources, maintaining timelines, managing client communications, and tracking commercial outcomes.

MAIN DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management (Nominally 90%):

  • Lead assigned projects from initiation through to final delivery and closure.
  • Define project scopes in consultation with clients and communicate these to staff.
  • Create and manage project plans, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Generate detailed work-orders with workshop supervisors (3–4 sprints in backlog).
  • Plan work-orders 12 weeks in advance; order parts at least 8 weeks ahead.
  • Facilitate project meetings and decision-making processes.
  • Act as the ‘Product Owner’ to align product backlogs and emerging needs.
  • Track project financials, including invoicing and payment receipts.
  • Monitor project progress and update ERP records and dashboards.
  • Assist in sales leads, quotations, and client briefings as needed.

Business Development & Communication (Nominally 10%):

  • Follow up allocated sales leads or client enquiries.
  • Contribute to proposal material and project documentation.
  • Represent Finch Restorations in a professional and positive light.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ATTRIBUTES

Professional Experience & Skills:

  • Project management experience in automotive, manufacturing, or engineering fields.
  • Proven ability to define work scopes and issue work-orders.
  • Familiarity with procurement workflows and ERP systems.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong reporting, scheduling, and communication skills.
