With six decades of experience, Finch Restorations is one of Australia’s most established vehicle restoration businesses. We are seeking an experienced Parts Interpreter / Purchasing Officer to support projects spanning cars, trucks, and motorcycles from the 1900s through to the 1980s.

This is a hands-on, operational role at the centre of our restoration work. You will be responsible for sourcing difficult-to-find parts, managing inventory systems, and supporting workshop teams with accurate and timely supply of components.

We are expanding into our new flagship site in Hindmarsh, a historic industrial building near the Adelaide CBD, and are building the team to support that growth.

Location

This role will initially be based at our Mount Barker facility for induction and training, with transition to our Hindmarsh site as operations expand.

The Role

You will be responsible for:

  • Sourcing and procuring often rare or obsolete components from Australia and overseas
  • Managing goods inwards, storage, and dispatch across multiple workshops
  • Maintaining accurate inventory and parts control systems within our ERP
  • Supporting workshop teams with timely and accurate parts supply
  • Coordinating freight, logistics, and supplier relationships
  • Assisting in the development and management of procurement and warehouse systems

Suitable Backgrounds

  • Automotive Parts Interpreter
  • Automotive Purchasing Officer
  • Service Advisor with strong parts knowledge
  • Technician with systems and organisational capability
  • Automotive warehouse or stores manager

About You

  • Strong mechanical understanding of vehicle systems (pre-1990s highly regarded)
  • Experience in automotive parts, purchasing, or workshop support roles
  • High attention to detail and systems-focused mindset
  • Confidence working independently and taking ownership
  • Strong computer and research skills
  • Clear communication with workshop teams and suppliers

Language

  • Comfortable working in the language of automotive components across multiple eras
