The Role: Panel Beater / Coachbuilder
We seek an experienced Panel Beater or Coachbuilder to repair rust, restore damaged panels, and fabricate new parts for vehicles aged 30–120 years.
Note: Initial training may take place at our Mount Barker site (2–4 months) before transitioning to Hindmarsh.
Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assess & Repair:
- Assess repair needs and vehicle damage.
- Repair rust, dents, and accident damage on vehicle bodies and chassis.
- Straighten vehicle bodies and chassis using specialised tools.
- Fabrication & Restoration:
- Fabricate rust repair panels with specialist tools.
- Cut and join panels using welding procedures.
- Perform metal shaping, lead-wiping/lead-loading, and refinishing.
- Reassembly & Finishing:
- Refit and align panels; reinstall body hardware and accessories.
- Collaborate with Coachbuilders on custom and vintage vehicle restoration.
- Assist with spray-painting processes as needed.
About You
Your skills and attributes include:
- Being an experienced Panel Beater with a strong portfolio of high-quality projects.
- Having at least five years’ hands-on experience (desirable).
- Holding a Certificate III in Automotive Body Repair Technology (minimum) or equivalent.
- Experience restoring classic and vintage vehicles (desirable).
- Having a meticulous eye for detail and pride in craftsmanship.
- Commitment to preserving automotive history while embracing future technologies.
- Being an Australian citizen, permanent resident, New Zealand citizen, or holding (or eligible to hold) a valid work visa for Australia.
Additional Skills: Experience in coachbuilding, chassis fabrication, or timber cabinet making will be highly regarded.
