About the Business

Finch Restorations is Australia's oldest car restoration business and is still growing. We have four workshop sites in Mount Barker where we carry out restorations. In Woodside we have a fifth site where we undertake automotive repairs and servicing. Mount Barker and Woodside are both in the Adelaide Hills just 20 minutes up the South-Eastern Freeway from the Old Tollgate.

About the Role

We seek a passionate, experienced, and qualified 'Old School' tradesperson to join our team to repair and maintain vehicles of 30-120 years of age.

Duties include:

  • Assess restoration requirements of vehicles to complete to the required level.
  • Organise the disassembly of vehicle parts for labelling and proper storage until reassembly.
  • Dismantle, check and inspect components for wear and damage.
  • Repair and recondition automotive components.
  • Diagnose reasons for equipment failure.
  • Assemble components after repair.
  • Install components in vehicles.
  • Carry out vehicle repairs and/or maintenance and diagnosis of problems.
  • Perform maintenance, fault diagnosis, rectification, component installation and/or assembly of predominantly pre-1980s (pre-computer age) vehicles.
  • Prepare technical reports.

About you

Your skills, experience and qualification will include:

  • At least 10 years of suitable experience as a trade-qualified mechanic, panel-beater, auto-electrican, motor-trimmer, coachbuilder, machinist, fabricator and/or engine-builder. Recognition for signifcant appropriate experience in lieu of a trade qualification may be considered.
  • Experience restoring classic and/or vintage cars, trucks or motorcycles.
  • Being an Australian citizen, an Australian permanent resident, a New Zealand citizen, or hold a valid visa with permission to work in Australia.
