Falcon XA GT RPO 83 - Stage 3 - Disassembly
The disassembly stage is a major activity during the ground-up restoration process when a car is transformed back to its constituent components. Usually the car will transition to a state where it is in more pieces than it was in the factory, as sub-assemblies used in the factory, like the drive-line, also need to be repaired and reconditioned.
During this stage, virtually all removable components are dismantled from the body of the car to ready it, and many of the components, for paint stripping.
To retain some easy mobility of the body, we also mount the body to a wheeled dolly during this stage. A meticulous process of cataloguing and storing all of the removed pieces also occurs. Each component is assessed to consider if it is economic, practical or desirable for authenticity needs, to recondition or replace the individual components.
During the disassembly, some of the invisible issues begin to emerge and generally require the scope and plan to be adjusted.
